You’re beautiful…

This song has been the quiet anthem playing in the background ever since we arrived here. It started the night of the 4th, when the guys from DTS Equip brought their guitars down to the dock and were playing a few worship songs while we waited. They played this song just as the last light of the setting sun flickered from the sky. As they repeated the gentle refrain over and over again, it brewed in me an expectation and an excitement that hasn’t really dimmed since that night out on the dock. Now I sing the song while in line for supper. I sing it as I get ready in the morning. I sing it in the shower. Its melody, perfectly suited for the tiled walls of the men’s room, reverberates at almost every pitch. Yesterday morning, as our TESOL class gathered with the DTS Equippers out on the lawn by the Boiler Room, we sang this song together as the crisp morning air awoke us to the beauty of the brand new day. And as for that same expectation I found our first night here; it found me again, and all I could say in return was “Lord, you’re beautiful.”
I’m probably singing it right now. Care to join me? [drew]
