The Agees and Lucases come to visit

It was so nice to have more friends in our house this week, and this time they actually spent the night. As David and Jamie, and Casey and Alyssa headed up to Whistler to hang out with the Winter Olympians and such, they made our house a stopping point along the way, staying for one night on the way up to B.C. and two nights on the way back down. WOW, that felt really good to have close friends around like that!
We hung out in the old apartment, visited Cortnie while she worked at Zupan’s, walked up to the Lewis & Clark Memorial in Washington Park, peroused through the books at Powell’s, ate lots of pizza at Rocco’s across the street, scoped out the local coffee scene, visited Voodoo for some “old dirty…” doughnuts, watched David throw down at the Burnside Skate Park, and had an all-in-all great time with them. (Despite the late nights and little sleep for everyone, and possibly the lack of cozy furniture in the apartment)
[You guys have to come up again. We already miss you terribly. And Casey, Eoghan has no one to be afraid of in the the morning; this is tragic! Anyways, hope you made it back home—safe & sound.]
Before they left the apartment on their way up to B.C. Jamie helped put Eoghan down for his nap by rubbing his belly. Apparently, it worked like a charm and he slept there on our bed for hours, I think. When he finally awoke he was still half asleep and didn’t know where he was (he usually takes his nap inside his crib). He held his arms straight out in front of him in mid-air partially for balance, it seemed, and partially to feel his surroundings as if he had awoken in an unfamiliar dark room. Cortnie and I just sat across the room and laughed. Maybe he was reaching out for one of us to come pick him up, or maybe he was really reaching out for his friends who had left. When he finally opened his eyes it was hard to tell which. Either way, his friends from Oakhurst will be missed.
